# Rating

A rating block is a question type that asks respondents to provide a rating or evaluation for a particular item or attribute using a predetermined scale, typically represented by stars, smiley faces, or other shapes. Respondents can assign a rating to indicate their perception, satisfaction, or preference regarding the item being rated.

The Rating block options are:

* **Require a response:** Toggle on/off to require respondents to submit an answer to this question block
* **Show description:** Toggle on/off to show/hide text descriptions. Add a text description to the blocks in order to provide additional context to a question block for respondents.
* **Steps:** Slide the scale to change the number of steps (or symbols) the respondents have to choose from. Current values range from 1-11.
* **Show labels on scale:** Toggle on/off to show labels underneath the rating scale
* **Symbol:** Dropdown menu of available symbols to display:
