# Tags

To open the Tags view click Tags from the Analyse Navigation Bar:

Tags are manually created in the analysis process to identify and categorise themes and topics in responses. For more information see [Filter by Tags](/docs/01-03-04-05-04__filter-by-tags).

## Chart: Tags config settings

There are unique config settings options for the Tags view in addition to the general Config settings. These settings are:

* **All tags dropdown:** Select All tags to chart all tags, or limit the chart to record-level tags or coded tags only.
  * **Only record level tags:** Select to chart tags that are applied to the entire record only
  * **Only coded tags:** Select to chart tags that are coded tags only.

* **Count unique records per tag:** Toggle on/off to calculate and display the number of distinct or unique responses associated with each tag in the dataset, providing a clear count of individual data points for each specific tag.
  * **Toggled on:** count each unique response only once per tag, giving you a clearer understanding of the number of distinct responses associated with each tag.
  * **Toggled off:** counts all occurrences of the tag, including duplicates, potentially leading to an inflated count if multiple responses have the same tag.

* **Sort:** Change the sorting of the chart data
  * **Default ordering:** Select to use default ordering in the chart. Usually this is the order the tags are in under the tag configuration menu.
  * **Values (hi-lo):** Select to order the chart from the highest tag value to the lowest
  * **Values (lo-hi):** Select to order the chart from the lowest tag value to the highest
  * **Titles (A-Z):** Select to order the chart in the tags alphabetical order from A-Z.
  * **Titles (Z-A):** Select to order the chart in the tags alphabetical order from Z-A.

* **Max items shown:** Limit the number of tags shown in the chart to a specific number. This is useful for large datasets with a significant number of tags, if you only want to chart the most frequent occurrences.
