Data custody and deletion policy
One of our key data custody and privacy commitments to you is: Your data belongs to you. When you delete something in Converlens, it really is deleted. We don’t “soft delete” or hide your data while actually keeping a copy, as some other services do. This is “data privacy and custody by design”, and is intended to provide you with a strong data custody guarantee: we hold your data only as long as you authorise us to. When you revoke that authorisation (by deleting your data), we uphold that custody guarantee by applying a permanent “hard-delete” policy. When it’s gone, it’s gone. There are two notable caveats to this:- Archives and Recycle Bin
- 90-day rolling backups
Archives and Recycle Bin
There are two instances where “removing” data resources will not necessarily delete them:- Archiving: Some resources in Converlens offer the ability to Archive the resource. This usually removes the resource from where it usually lives and puts it into an archive. Archived resources are not deleted and can be restored at any time.
- Recycle Bin: Resources that are placed in the Recycle Bin are not immediately deleted. They are stored in the bin for 30 days, prior to being permanently deleted. This provides an opportunity to restore and recover any resources that were incorrectly deleted. The Recycle Bin functionality is being rolled out more widely throughout 2025.
