Blocks are how we refer to each individual question or group of questions because these represent a distinct unit of content that can be arranged and structured within the survey, similar to building blocks in construction.

Types of blocks

There are many types of blocks that can be used in your consultation. They are split into 4 categories: Content: Content blocks allow the inclusion of multimedia content, such as images, videos, documents, or links, within the survey to provide additional context or visual elements to participants. Choice: Choice blocks include various question types that offer respondents a selection or choice, allowing respondents to select options from a predefined list. Text: Text blocks enable respondents to provide open-ended responses, contact details, numbers, postcodes, websites, or file uploads. Scale: Scale blocks provide a range-based response format, allowing respondents to rate or evaluate items on a numerical scale, such as rating satisfaction levels or indicating preferences on a number range scale. Common block types include Content/Media, Dropdown, Multiple Choice, Matrix, Rank, Date, Yes or No, Long Text, Single-line Text, Email, Website, Number, Postcode, File Upload, Rating, and Scale.
