Submission View in the Submission Reader is where you can explore submission answers, view each question, interact with submission text, apply codes to specific sections, edit response text, and toggle visibility of individual questions if response publishing is enabled. To open submission view, select a submission from Explore: Results. This will open the Submission Reader. Select “Review” from the Submission Navigation Bar to open Submission View.

Submission View

Submission View displays the respondents answers to the survey blocks (questions). Each block type is indicated by icon down the left hand side of submission view (see Block Types and Functions). The numbers displaying next to the icons indicate the block number. Hover over the question text for each block to display the kebab menu on the right hand side which offers additional functions (see below). Block numbers are assigned in the Build tab when the data space (survey) is created or imported. These block numbers may not always correspond directly to the survey question numbers, depending on the survey’s design and structure.

Hiding unanswered questions

Converlens will hide any unanswered questions from the result in Submission Reader to promote ease of viewing. If you would like to toggle all questions to show even where no answer was provided, click Show. To hide these again, close the submission and re-open it from Explore - Results view.

Additional Options

Hover over the question text for each block to display the kebab menu on the right hand side which offers additional functions.

Edit response

Click edit response to change the answer to any question. When the edits are made, select Save to change the response, or click the grey X to cancel the edits. To clear the respondents answer to that question, click Clear Response and save. To exit out of editing a response, select Cancel Edit.

Response publishing enabled

If response publishing has been enabled for the data space (see Configure: Data Spaces - Enable response publishing) some additional options are available in Submission View.

On publish Hide Answer

Toggle on/off to hide this answer from the published public view of the result.

Redact Mode

Available for text block types (see Block Types and Functions), redact mode lets you redact text from the answer. When published, this text will show as [redacted]. From the Explore tab, open Results. Click on the submission you want to publish to open Submission Reader > Submission View. To redact text, toggle redact mode on for the block you want to edit. Highlight the text you want to redact and use the floating menu to toggle redact text on. The redaction will show as grey strikethrough in the Submission View. To undo a redaction, click anywhere in the redacted text in Submission View, and toggle “redact text” off from the floating menu. Converlens will open a popup confirmation ensuring you want to remove the redaction. Click “OK” and the redaction will be removed. Tip: Redacting information from a submission does not affect the tags or codes on that submission. Redaction only removes the marked text from published views of the submission text (or transcription). Additionally, redacting a file’s transcription won’t alter the file itself; you can hide or manually edit the file as needed.
