The Chart widget enables adding and creating charts and data visualisations. There are two options for adding a chart to your report:
  • Create a new chart: insert a new chart directly in the report
  • Insert a saved view: add a saved view from the Analyse tab

Add Chart to Report

To add a chart to your report there are three methods:
  • Click the Chart button at the bottom of the report builder.
  • Click the + button in the Reports Toolbar and select Chart/Analysis under Data Widgets.
  • From a row tile, open the add menu and select Chart/Analysis.
This will open the Add Chart menu where you can select +Create New chart or Insert a saved view. Tip: Save your report after you’ve added a chart to preserve any edits you make after adding.

Add a new chart

From the Add chart to Report menu, select +Create New. There are a number of settings you can edit from this menu to set your chart visualisation.
  • Report Filter: From the dropdown select whether to use an existing report filter or create a new report filter from a Data space. See Report Filters for more information.
  • Visualisation type: Select from Data, Tags, Words, Sentiment or Maps. See Chart: View Bar Tools for more information on each visualisation type.
  • Count: Click the dropdown menu to select individual data blocks. Select the question to count to view how many times each option in that question was chosen.
  • Group By: Click the dropdown menu to group the Count by another individual data block. Select the question to break down the count based on that second question. See how different groups within the data compare to each other
  • Chart type: Click the dropdown to change the chart type.
    • Bar: A chart that uses rectangular bars of varying lengths to represent data values.
    • Row: Similar to a bar chart, but displayed horizontally with bars extending left to right.
    • Line: A chart that shows data points connected by straight lines, useful for depicting trends over time.
    • Area: A chart similar to a line chart, but the area between the line and the horizontal axis is shaded, emphasising the data’s magnitude.
    • Pie: A circular chart divided into segments, each representing a proportion of the whole, helpful for illustrating percentages or parts of a whole.
    • Dot: A chart where data points are represented by dots along an axis, suitable for showing individual data values.
    • Radar: A chart with multiple axes extending from a central point, ideal for comparing multiple variables on a common scale.
    • Number: A simple chart displaying a single numeric value, often used for displaying a key metric or statistic.
Tip: All chart settings can be changed from the Report Builder. If you prefer to work in the Report Builder or Analyse overlay simply select Add to Report and edit the chart directly from your report.

Insert a saved view

If you have a previously saved data visualisation in Analyse, from the Add chart to Report menu, select Insert saved view. Click on the title of the saved view you want to add to the report. If you want to edit the chart you will need to open the view in Analyse. Please note editing a saved view will affect all reports using this view. To edit the visualisation you will need to open the chart in Analyse as saved views are connected to the Data space. See Chart for more information on editing a saved view.
